  8. Currently windward supports ToC(Table of Contents) in docx file but not ToF(Table of Figures)

Generating docx report using windward updates/supports only ToC not ToF(Table of Figures). This is a much needed feature when dynamically generating reports as a word file. It would be great if this feature is added to windward.

  10. Encrypt PDF Output in Windward Solo

I am a new Windward Solo user. We love what we are seeing; we need to deliver individual PDF documents which are password protected via email. It's confidential financial info. We will have the password in the batch select query. The recipient will know the password as we will describe in the email body text. In working with Kelly (your support), we came up with the idea of adding a check box next to PDF when selected as an output option, then having a field where a field can be selected from the batch select (plus perhaps the ability to…

  11. Different PDF converter/convert through Word

We are having a lot differences between the Word output and that generated by Windward PDF. Spacing can be different and sometimes the PDF does things wrong that Word does correctly, such as text going through a footer or the PDF not breaking the page correctly when using Keep with Next. It seems to me a lot of defelopment time goes into trying to make the PDF output better.
In literally every instant, the PDF from Word's Export feature worked correctly. Also, the output is half the file size, which is also very important for us.
    A lot of our…

    Hello Reporter,

Perhaps you can benefit from Windward’s “Use Office for PDF Output” functionality, this sounds like the functionality you described. Please see this Ohana article on how you can setup the Windward Engine to use Microsoft Office’s native PDF export functionality for PDF output: https://ohana.windwardstudios.com/m/76878/l/1178439-how-do-i-use-microsoft-office-to-generate-pdf-output-in-report-designer

Please let me know if this solution works for you, or expand on your request if I misunderstood it. Thank you.

  12. Creating dynamic columns for tables / Auto generation of tables based on the data

Table should have fucnctionality of expanding in 2 direction. Currently, using for loops we can have dynamic rows creation. Similarly, a functionality to expand the columns based on a certain value form the source.
In this way, we can create tables/grids dynamically, with no fixed no. of rows and columns

  13. Maven dependencies

On your page https://ohana.windwardstudios.com/m/79484/l/1035755-how-do-i-use-maven-to-install-windward-java-engine-in-my-application#locate-your-settings-xml-file you state that the repository should be added to your settings.xml file. This is not convenient for teams, because settings.xml is personal (not stored in e.g. Git) and sometimes contains passwords or tokens.

Putting the repository in your project's pom.xml ensures everyone has the same repository (because this file is in Git) and prevents problems with new members.

  14. XPath 2.0 Connection debugger

When connecting to a data source errors can occur. In many cases there is too much information about the error for it all to be view-able in the connection editor.

SQL data sources solve this problem with the connection debugger. There should be one of these for XPATH 2.0 aswell.

  15. Odata: queried data of a forEach loop is stored in a dataset accessible later during output generation

As you probably know, data source queries take its time and OData queries are extremely slow.
To speed up output generation, I want to limit data source access as much as possible:
Often I have to iterate multiple times through the same amount of data by use of a forEach tag.
At present it is the case that I have to query the data source for each forEach loop.

From my point of view it would be an advantage if the queried data of a forEach loop is (optionally) stored in a dataset accessible at different positions in the template…

  16. Display header/footer with Out tag templates

When using an Out tag as a BASE64_TEMPLATE type, the header and footer from a docx used as the template is not displayed on the generated output document.

Import tags support this functionality, but we would really like to use Out tags for performance.

  17. OData: build queries by use of OData expands

The Data Bin presents the entities with its navigation properties (expand). Would be great to use the tag editor and the wizard to create queries with filters using odata expands.

  18. Consistent color for series in chart - Basic Functionality

    Hi Team,
We are creating chart for lot of Reports, but there is no way that we can provide consistent color for a particular series. For example For [High] color always should be red, irrespective of the number of series is available. When we have full series data color is coming fine but when full set of data is not there colors are picking like First N.

  19. Add color picker to Conditional Formatting Rule Manager

    Dear Windward,

To select a color in the Format wizard, a color picker would be very helpfull instead of entering hex values manually.

  20. Disconnect DataSets from Datasources

Disconnect DataSets from Datasources. If we could create a dataset seperately (Like we do with Query Tags) we could have datasets defined in the template itself and not in the datasources. This allows us to change the datasource when generating the template on the Staging or Prod machines and still have the same subset of data selected.

It would make templates much more reusable as we could define a handful of more general datasources and limit the data requested by using DataSets in the templates.
