  2. Need browse button from the query pane in the Import Tag's Tag Editor

It would be SO COOL to have a browse button from the query pane in the Import Tag's Tag Editor to choose your file/url/etc.

  3. Make the default output directory configurable.

Implement a configuration parameter that changes the Report Designer default output directory from the current %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\temp.

  4. Indicate that .NET 4.5 is a requirement for AutoTag v14 installation

The installation process for AutoTag v14 does not indicate that .NET Framework v4.5 is required. the AutoTag Add-on will appear in Word, but not function properly. Please indicate in the installation materials, as well as in the installer itself, that .NET Framework 4.5 is required.

  5. Licence management need improvment

Hi, Currently Licenses are associated with major versions. If new version downloaded then its needs new license key even though the contract is valid during that duration. It create the lot of issues as we have global user base and coordinating and sharing new license key is problem. Instead of generating the new keys , on your side the old licenses key should be automatically associated with new version if the contract is valid during that duration. This is applicable for Autotag as well as .NET Engine. Please consider this change on priority as we as planning to upgrade the…

  6. Use a value from an XML file to determine conditional formatting values like colocell or others

Be able to use a tag element value to define conditional formatting parameter value:

    Something like this:
    <wr:out select=”!/root/ap/qu/elements/c_clau1” condition=”=TRUE::cellcolor!!!/root/ap/qu/elements/c_color::false”/>

    Instead of:
    <wr:out select=”!/root/ap/qu/elements/c_clau1” condition=”=TRUE::cellcolor!!ff8800::false”/>

  7. OfficeToPDF, eliminate Word startup

Using the OfficeToPDF feature involves significant additional time and part of it seems to involve the startup of Word application. Suggestion is to have a running instance in the background and use it for all related requests/processing.

    Hello Again Reporter!

One of our support team updated me that this issue persists even when an instance of Word is running since additional instances are opened for additional requests. I am re-opening this idea and we will still watch to see if we receive additional votes to see if there is more demand.

    Thank you for you patience!

  8. Allow manual entries into the Chart Tag legend

The chart tag at the moment only detects values within the data source, causing inconsistencies between values/color (e.g. risk levels) across multiples of the same report.

It would be great to include the functionality to manually add entries to the Chart Tag legend. This would allow consistency creating reports that require uniformity in values and colors.

  9. TIFF image output format

Our client requires an output format of TIFF. Currently they are seeking a way to convert from PDF, but ideally they would like it embedded in Windward.

  10. RESTful Engine - Embedded Datasource in Request

Currently when passing and XML or JSON data source within a REST request it has to be encoded into base64. It would be very valuable to be able to pass the XML or JSON data directly within the REST request.

  11. HTML with No CSS

Please provide the ability to produce HTML without embedded CSS that results in the same styles and appearance as the default HTML. While bloated in size by embedding all the CSS into the HTML tags, this can improved integration with other applications that one would like to use with the resulting HTML.

  12. Update table of contents after docx report has been generated

When docx report is generated, update the table of contents as the last step before saving the report output. Reason: if the report contains imported html documents, the page numbers in the ToC are often wrong after the 1st html document. With lots of documents, the page numbers get increasingly out of sync. The user has to use F9 in the output file to correct this.

  14. Deprecate .NET 3.5 and Java 1.6 in Version 16

Windward is ending support for the following versions of .NET and Java for their respective Engines in Version 16.

Drop support for the following in Version 16:

    .NET 3.5
    Java 1.6

Microsoft ended support for .NET 3.5 on January 12th, 2016. Support for Java 1.6 ended in February 2013.

Further developing our Engines on .NET 4 and Java 1.7 enables us to bring you the best products using functionality unavailable in previous versions. Please let us know if you have comments or questions related to the deprecation of these products or how to upgrade your existing environment. Thank you.

  16. Enable double-clicking a tag in the footer to open the Tag Editor

Currently, if you double-click a tag in the header or main body of a Word document, the Tag Editor window opens. This is not true in the footer. A workaround is to double-click the footer tag, then double-click somewhere on the doc outside the footer, but this is not user-friendly and is not consistent with the functionality in other parts of the document. A sample is attached that replicates the issue.

I understand this is due to limitations of the Word/Office API, but if this can stay on the radar as something to fix if the Office API gets better,…

  17. Make image cropping work with PDF generation

When adding an image to a Word document you can select a few cropping options under picture tools / format ->crop. You can choose whether to fill or fit the image inside the allocated space. This works fine when generating to docx, however the PDF converter does not support this so whatever the value you select for cropping, the images always get squashed.

This is mainly an issue when used with an import tag to dynamically import an image; at that point we don't know what the exact aspect ratio will be, but we do want to make sure it…

  19. Use pod without formatting

I would like to be able to use a pod but retain the formatting of the destination template document and ignore any formatting from the pod (or not even store the formatting in the pod). In particular, in Excel I only want to be able to put an OUT tag into a cell from the pod bin and keep the formatting of the cell.

The current workaround (in Excel) is:
create a pod based on a single tag
Put the pod into a cell in the new document in a temporary sheet
Copy the cell text then paste into the…

  20. Don't allow a POD to be created if it contains undefined variables.

Currently, a POD can be created that contains Tags which refer to variables defined in other Tags not included in the POD. Then those Tags fail when the POD is used in another template. Request that when a POD is saved, Report Designer checks whether there are undefined variables in any Tag, and if so, rejects saving the POD with a message like "POD contains undefined variables."
